Gentlemen, the big day is almost here! Although, the bride gets most of the attention and completes most of the task, but you also have some responsibilities on the to do list. Berkshire Ridge Wedding Venue has a comprehensive list for you. Grooms do your prep work before the day of and Berkshire Ridge will make sure everything else flows seamlessly on your wedding day—so you can focus on the moment and not the logistics.

Before the Wedding

Try On Your Suit or Tux as Soon as You Get It
Avoid last-minute surprises by making sure your outfit is just right. We have heard many stories where the groom waited until the day of to put his tux on to realize the pants were 6” too short or the shirt was too small. Take a minute or two… and try that thing on!

Get a Back Up Second Shirt
Accidents happen—having a spare dress shirt ensures you stay fresh all day.

Confirm the Groomsmen’s Attire
A quick check-in with your groomsmen will help avoid any last-minute mix-ups. Also, remind them to try on their outfit as soon as they get it also. Avoid the dilemmas! If you’re at Berkshire Ridge, we offer a groom’s lounge where you and your crew can get ready in comfort.

Write Your Vows (If You’re Doing Them)
Don’t leave this for the last minute! Although, you may work better under pressure - this one you should for sure do a head of time and then take a picture of the vow … just in case the paper gets misplaced on the day of.

Get a Haircut (But Not Too Close to the Wedding Date)
Schedule a trim about a week before the wedding. A fresh cut is great, but you don’t want any unexpected surprises.

Plan a Special Gift for Your Bride
It doesn’t have to be extravagant—a handwritten note or a thoughtful gift can make the morning of the wedding even more special.

Plan a Special Gift for Your Mom and Dad Just like your bride’s gift - it doesn’t have to be extravagant—a handwritten note or a thoughtful gift will be forever treasured by your parents.

Break in Your Shoes
New dress shoes can be stiff. Wear them around the house a few times to avoid discomfort on the big day.

Confirm Logistics with Your Venue & Vendors
If you’re tying the knot at Berkshire Ridge, our team will ensure your day runs smoothly. But it’s still good to check in with vendors like your caterer, florist, baker, photographer and DJ.

Get Your Marriage License
A wedding without a marriage license is just a great party! Be sure to check Missouri’s requirements and get this taken care of in well in advance.

Don’t Drink Too Much the Night Before
Don’t drink too much the night before or you will look like you drank too much the night before.

On the Wedding Day

Eat & Hydrate
You’ll be on your feet a lot, so have a solid meal and drink plenty of water. (And maybe just one celebratory drink before the ceremony—stay on point!)

Show Up Early
At Berkshire Ridge, we provide a spacious getting-ready suite for the groom and groomsmen to relax and prep. Arriving early ensures a smooth start to the day.

Update Your Best Man on His Duties
Your best man should have the rings, vows, and schedule under control. Give him a quick rundown to confirm everything’s in place.

Pop a Mint Before the First Look and the Ceremony
Self explanatory!!
